Heavenly

I don’t know. Good question. I’ll have to go check, but given the way most taxonomists are constantly adjusting and revising names and classifications, we shouldn’t be surprised. I rarely seem to check on these things until someone comments! So thanks.

Has the name V. sororia been replaced with scoria?

There seem to be very few violet growers anywhere. I wonder if Southern France might have more cultivars available? The Toulouse area is or Nimes is where they grow violets for the fragrance industry.

I was recently given a cutting of the variety I think is King of Doubles. This has sparked a complete obsession and I have ordered some other cultivars. The history around these plants is incredible.
Here in Australia there are very few violet growers.

Others have posted where they have found plants recently. I find them occasionally on-line either from Select Seeds or even Logee’s.

Groves Nursery in Bridport, Devon UK list 11 varieties. I don’t know if they will export though.

Long time lurker, first time poster here (omg, I got to say it!)
Just wanted to let you know how much I treasure your posts! I can’t find anything like what you’ve got to say anywhere else, you are a one and only.
And, even though I’m in California, your information is interesting and most of the time relevant for me.
Thanks so much!
– Sally on the San Francisco Peninsula
