tried to comment before, to say that i very much appreciate the "old-school Matt post that is a diary in style." am very interested and inspired by what is happening in your very cool collection of plants/greenhouse. (hope greenhouse is not too THAT kind of cool.)
thanks for the detailed care of the camellias. would appreciate your pointers on pruning without becoming bonsais. have three that just bloomed, that are intended to remain in pots for their lifetimes.

I especially like your references to Victorian gardening such as forcing Lily of the valley. I think you should write a book about the lost art of Victorian flower growing… From fragrant violets to Wardian cases. I grow several Parma violets which flower well for me every Christmas… As well as a lot of forced bulbs. However, it would be nice to find a book that goes into more detail about technique, and perhaps replicating it in today's world.
