I joined my local NARGS, the Adirondack chapter, even though I don't grow alpine plants. (Well, at least not yet.) I joined for the two plant sales they have every year, where I am sure to find goodies that no retail outfit is selling. I've yet to meet a rock gardener who only has a rock garden. No, they all grow tons of different kinds of plants, some of which are alpines that need specific growing conditions.
