The Victorian Flower Garden was also a television series in the UK as well as The Victorian Kitchen Garden. I got the book on thriftbooks.com. You might also enjoy An Island Garden by Celia Thaxter. Happy gardening and God bless.

Hi Joseph. Oh, I need that book! AND yes, I’ve seen those pansy seeds…they were sold out last year, so I had to wait to try them. Thanks!

It is supposed to closely resemble the original Bambini mix from Vilmorin.

P.S. If you haven’t already read it I highly recommend The Victorian Flower Garden by Jennifer Davies. Thank you for a wonderful article. God bless.

Reading your article I suppose the true type are gone forever. Sad. Thanks to those trying to resurrect them and to you for the most complete informative article I have found. Whitworth451

My mentor, Miss Billie, also said to get yellow violas for southern winters. Cream colors make a nice compromise.

Growing from seed isn't as great a task as some might believe; mine reseed if I miss a few seed pods.

I'm considering where I could use a little staging, too.

I've always loved the pansies with faces. The gold "faces" with either a rich blue or purple are my favorites – so rich looking.
