Thanks Judith, you are absolutely correct! As always, proceed with caution if the species is a non-native or becoming a mono-crop. Better yet, cut off all of the seed pods from self seeded plants.

The invasiveness is something you do not want to behold. Easy to be blindsided by their beauty. I don’t say this lightly, nor in the extreme. The lupines are also going to seed almost immediately after blooming this year, so I will take what I have pulled, to be incinerated, as the seeds last forever.

When I went organic I had to cut out lupines, poppies, and a long list of others. At my greenhouse (can be seen soon at) newleafplants.com I put the seed flats very close to the florescent lights (3" sometimes) depending on the seeds' needs.

I would like to learn more about symptoms of lupin anthracnose. I planted a few plants of the varieties Chandelier and Noble Maiden this spring and one plant of Noble Maiden started to fade and shrink from the top leaves and lesions showed on stems. Could it be that cause? Thanks.
